TEN TEEN PHOTOGRAPHERS FRIDAY NIGHT
Press Release……for immediate release…..March 15, 2009Lucky Red
presents: Mom, I’m Artsy! Photos by 10 teen photographersFriday, March 20,
2009Union street at Main….on the bitter end of chinatownWhile most teens are using
their spring break to catch up on typical teen pursuits like playing under the dome, one
has decided her time would be better spent curating a photography show of her peers to
raise money for a childrens’ charity instead. With "Mom, I’m Artsy!”
16 year old Emma Anderson-Pilon brings together 10 young photographers for a one night
exhibition at Lucky Red this Friday night.Though this is the first exhibition she has
curated, Emma is no stranger to the art world. The daughter of celebrated
illustrator/artist Mark Atomis Pilon, (who was also responsible for the seminal Moonbase
Gallery during the early years of the decade), and lowbrow diva Holly-ruth Anderson, it
would naturally follow that she become invoved in the art scene. She describes the show as
follows: Mom, I'm Artsy : Friday March 20th 7:30 pm at Lucky RedFeaturing Emma
Anderson-Pilon, Michelle Hanley, Maya Kordic Halse, Anikah Jordan, Jesse Mcmillan, Evan
Robertson, Emily Schira, Harley Slade, and Sadie Vadnais."Life in Vancouver as seen
through the eyes of ten teen photographers all of whom love photography and want to get
their things out in the open for people to see and hopefully enjoy. All of the
proceeds from the show will be going to a charity called Abetavu (Safe Haven). Carli
Travers founded the charity to support six Ugandan children who she took off the streets
to give food and shelter along with helping them re-connect with their families and
tending to their medical needs which are very serious at this time." to read more
